EduConnect ("we", "our", or "us") provides an interactive education platform via our Android application and website (educonnectapp.co.za). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your privacy rights.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you provide to us when registering or using the EduConnect application:

• Account Information: Name, email address, user role (Student or Teacher), profile picture, and subject preferences.
• Live Class Media & Permissions: Camera and microphone streams during interactive live classes (processed via Agora RTC Engine). Speaking video/audio is broadcast only when explicitly granted by the teacher.
• Whiteboard & Quiz Data: Real-time whiteboard strokes, poll responses, and quiz answers.
• EduAI Queries: Text messages, voice notes, and photo uploads submitted to the EduAI learning assistant for processing and voice synthesis.
• Financial & Payment Information: Payment transactions for class enrollment and subaccount identifiers for teacher withdrawal payouts (processed securely via Paystack).
• User-Generated Content: Educational posts, lesson posters, videos, comments, and reports posted on the Discover feed.
• Device Identifiers: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens used to send live class start alerts, reminders, and broadcast announcements.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used strictly to provide and improve EduConnect features:

• Operating live classrooms, digital whiteboards, polls, and quizzes.
• Authenticating user sessions and managing student/teacher roles.
• Processing enrollment fees and transferring teacher withdrawal earnings.
• Providing EduAI homework assistance and voice responses.
• Sending push notifications for scheduled live classes and announcements.
• Enforcing community guidelines and filtering abusive content via automated filters.

4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Service Providers

We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with trusted infrastructure providers required to operate the service:

• Firebase (Google Cloud): User authentication, database storage, media storage, push notifications, and AI function execution.
• Agora RTC Engine: Real-time live class video and audio stream transmission.
• Paystack Payment Gateway: Enrollment card payments and teacher bank payouts.

5. Account Deletion & Your Rights

You have the right to access, update, or permanently delete your account and personal data at any time. You can delete your account directly inside the app under Settings → Delete Account or submit a web request via our Account Deletion Page.
